..................but not great enough!
#25 To an extent I agree with that..there is subtlety! But the shots you list as clever - well that may be so technically - but it is surely down to the ability of the batsman to know what is coming down at him, and be confident that the lack of movement up/down or laterally will allow him to 'set himself'. The same shots are appearing in 50 overs & tests, but the relative risk factor is greater
Should be called Wackit rather than Cricket. £34 for a game at the Oval? I wouldn't go if you paid me that. Problem like anything is more is not better, from a bit of fun it's trying to take over everything to the expense of the test side especially. Goes on till September, no thanks.
Its not all bish bash though is it ? There are also clever shots like the ramp shot and switch hit. And then there are the invented shots into the spaces in the field. Anyone who thinks its just bish bash doesn't really understand what the batsmen are doing.
The County Championship could best be described as Teat cricket with meaning. The champions pennant is the season's most coveted prize.
Brass hat, If you haven't attended a championship match (or availed of the increasing number of opportunities to watch streamed matches - well done counties), how do you know it is dull?? I am a keen championship follower (streaming as making the trip over the short stretch of water from NI is a problem) and I can attest to it being great value!
@20 Sir, your whole posting is immanent danger of verging nearly on complete & utter poppycock "No matter how you dress it up: lights, pyjamas, white ball, slogs, tip-it-and-run, it's still farcical. It should have a different name; I know what cricket means to the English gentleman. This bashing is for the 'others', the ones who are always drunk, and have difficulty following any 'rules'
T20 is becoming just like football, all the well to do counties sign the World stars and the lesser counties have none or very little chance.I as a Gloucestershire fan certainly wont be wasting my money travelling to Bristol or Cheltenham to watch the slog fest. Also the wickets that T20 is played on Worldwide gives the bowlers no chance to show their skills, its all about batsmen, very boring!
Generally agree with 'always right'. No matter how you dress it up: lights, pyjamas, white ball, slogs, tip-it-and-run, it's still farcical. It should have a different name; I know what cricket means to the English gentleman. This bashing is for the 'others', the ones who are always drunk, and have difficulty following any 'rules'.
I find T20 boring, there are not many tight finishes, and it is too manufactured. To make it a better game, increase boundaries to full size. Let bowlers bowlers have no restrictions on the number of overs they can bowl, and have no power plays or fielding restrictions. It would then be a more balanced, and tactical game. I would restrict signing on maverick players from foreign countries.
Bish/bash is cack.
er speaking as a life long cricket fan ( who has not attended a CC match sorry CC is sadly somewhat dull ) T20 & ODIs are really exciting as are Test matches so I personally am looking forward to the next 7 weeks looks like Sussex will win T20 (on roster Jofra Archer & the world top T20 bowler etc )have ECB slightly varied the rules yet so Archer can play for England next year ?
@10If u don't care why are you supporting a team??????
Finding alternatives to T20 and the Russian thing as well. Makes life difficult! I guess it is ''new balls please''
Ah, the T20 Blast! That time of year when those of us interested in cricket have to find something to do.
I have to admit, I didn't think that T20 would stay the course this long. I swore the novelty would wear thin long ago, so credit where it is due. Don't mistake it though for cricket in the true sense of the word, it sure isn't that. If the ECB finally recognise the other audience who were loyal before this slog fest came along, and stop making 50 over cricket a longer version of it, then ok
To those that like T20, a promising summer - best of luck! Who needs a pointless 100-ball farce as well?Rays a Larf @11I saw that too. I dream of a world where cheating scumbags don't prosper, don't get generous contracts to play for a Canadian franchise while pretending to "pay their debt to the sport", don't stick two fingers up at morality & integrity.Sadly it's not this world.
I see the cheat Warner has been made captain of the Canadian team he is playing with.....making a joke of the Aussie cricket board and cricket in toto ..
