@198, my understanding is that the icc mandates all teams should play each other in the five year cycle, beyond that the individual boards decide when they play other teams. England like to play teams on a regular four year cycle, like the ashes.
DullWindies are a poor side. Just 3 tests and then innumerable hit and hope cricket
And of course in 208 I should have said "tours including Tests" not "Tests including tours". Sorry about that.
196. Lochender: Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Zimbabwe have increasingly been playing international matches during the English season - all of them have Tests including tours scheduled for July and/or August 2019. Ireland are also starting to host Tests as well as ODIs and T20Is during the English season. In 206, I should of course have said "next year after the World Cup" not "this year".
I think Joffra Archer should be playing for the WI. They deserve to have good players that don’t play for the highest bidder.
194 and 199: For what it is worth, there have been no Test matches in Guyana since 2011. Trinidad has staged Tests in alternate years only since 2010: missing them out is continuing the pattern. Jamaica last missed out in 2013, when there were only two Tests in the West Indies, while Barbados missed out in 2016, when there were four. India will play two Tests in WI this year after the World Cup.
This should be a good learning curve for our more inexperienced players. The WINDIES are very poor at the moment. Can't take them lightly though.
Really would like to see woakes get back into the starting 11 was a case to be made that he looked like one of our better batsman regardless of bowling
England are 2nd in the Test rankings, 1st in ODI rankings and 4th in T20 rankings. That's not bad at all for a team that's so supposedly poor. In fact, only India has a better overall average because they're 3rd in T20s. I like to Fiddledix
@191 MrLeech I see you have at least 3 accounts on the go, as no genuine cricket fan would ever agree with those "facts" of yours! You're free to give at least vaguely reasonable opinions, but to claim "FACT" ,"END OF", etc. then at the very least please take a deep breathe & bother taking a few seconds to check the actual, non 'post-truth', reality.Or, even better, supply evidence. Cheers!
Seems fair enough after recent successin Sri Lanka, though not sure three spinbowlers will be required. Anderson and Broadarguably should lead the attack.Great chance for England to win back to backaway series, not won in West Indies since 2004.Pope is unlucky but due to shorter tours if he is not going to feature then why bring him.West Indies struggles in Bangladesh gives hope.
