Hales and Morgan unsold a big surprise IMO. On their day both as destructive as anyone around.
Over the summer Adil Rashid made mince meat of the Aussie & Indian batsmen with the white ballClearly England's best ODI bowler currently Joint 6th on the ICC ODI rankings and 4th in T20Mysteriously not been picked for the Big Bash or IPL *Unsure if he made himself available
99. Moz: Varun Chakravarthy may have only played one first-class match (in which he took 1-105), but he played nine matches for Tamil Nadu in India's 50 over domestic competition this year, taking 22 wickets with a bowling average of 16.68 and an economy rate of 4.23.
He has a lot of love and passion for the game. Well done young man....from an Indian fan
100. JBossIf a player has a high base price..they go unsold. So next stage would for him to reduce his start price.
Note to any would-be School PE specialists: Concentrate upon becoming a professional footballer or cricketeer as the former scan UTTER mug's game based primarily upon goodwill and a naff salary. No wonder that the best PE specialist teachers are being signed up by the Private Sector for security of salary; shorter terms ; smaller classes ; better resources and altogether far less hassle.
The IPL should be abolished - it is a farce.
Big Bash is the way to go. Why don't we put the quarter finals into a one day before the final of our competition and play the last three rounds over a weekend. Make a great couple of days out. Those Friday nights are terribly boring...and cold.
Woakes one the finest all rounders in World cricket, Hales one of the must destructive and successful t20 batsmen, both go unsold?!Bloke plays one game and goes for a million quid?!Welcome to the ipl auction
"Varun Chakravarthy, an Indian mystery spinner who has played only one first-class match, attracted the joint highest bid of £940,000 from Kings XI."Hahahaha - genius! I know, let's throw a million pounds at a guy who has only ever played one match. What can possibly go wrong, right? Accountability for use of resources? Naah. It's clearly money well spent, isn't it? /s
@91 very true... Ii prefer our t20 to the IPL nice little grounds frozen spectators at 9.30 pm in the drizzle ..you cant beat it...and worcester even with no floodlights.
im not surprised with brendon mccullum not getting a contract , looking at the big bash earlier he tries to hit every ball out the ground, no matter what it is.
The cricket world, at least on the subcontinent has gone mad. He’s going to be great. But a T20 game-changer? I don’t think so.Hales unsold? He can win any T20 game in 50 balls. Bizarre.
Nice one. Invest it wisely, young man! A long life ahead of you, and plenty of ECB Central Contracts, too. Enjoy the cricket in early 2019!
@92 Monsieur Beret, are you sure you're not a baseball-cap? What would poor Eddie think?! ;-)
No doubt Surrey will find another bowler with SA connections to fill in for him! (though in truth Sam Curran was born here so perhaps I am being just a little snide)
Thank goodness for the IPL as with the World Cup, first Ireland test at Lord's, the Ashes, Royal London Cup and County Championship there is going to be a real dearth of exciting cricket this summer. At least we have The Hundred to look forward to in 18 months time! #bringonthehundred
The circus continues. No rhyme or reason as to why certain players are signed or not but it keeps the mob happy. I think most true cricket fans in the UK and Ireland at least will have their attention elsewhere this summer.
