This was great for cricket worldwide. The notion that certain countries were fatally deficient was misplaced. It only takes a core of emerging talent to redress the balance. Wonderful to see West Indies and Sri Lanka winning again
Huge amount of credit should also go to the debutant left arm spinner who looks pretty good and only 22 yrs of age, and the left arm seamer who is also new. Fantastic advert for test cricket and along with West Indies winning against England great news for the so called second division teams.
I saw some of the Sri Lanka first innings when the last three did well to make up for the so called better batsmen capitulating. I then saw that they had won by one wicket! I knew no detail but saw the highlights. What a superb innings, great last wkt partnership. Let’s hope Sri Lanka can hold SA in the 2nd test. Great for cricket, great for Sri Lanka
Why should this innings not be described as the best ever. The context seems unbeatable, the application outstanding and achievement simply stupendous.
Yes as neutral fan I jus saw the highlights of Perera's incredible feat. An incredible moment in Test Cricket history. Yes we may or may not see the likes of it again, but what a shot in the arm for cricket in general. With this win and of WI of late it is fantastic to see the resurgence of the game. We just hope to see more of this resurgence and what it would do for the game. SL 👍
Darlo @182You missed the point completely. Whatever people "should" do (what gave you the right to tell other people what to do, anyway?), the truth is that most don't.Going onto Sky reduced viewing audiences by at least 75%. More people watched a Columbo repeat, than the 2009 Ashes climax. People won't get into cricket unless it's right in front of them - they WON'T just go looking for it.
Amazing comeback. As a neutral fan, I thought of watching it when 47 were needed with 1 wicket in hand but had some work. I did see the highlights and Kusal's shots are terrific. I can't imagine how SA failed to take 1 wicket with this bowling attack. It reminded us of the great Sanath Jayasuriya and Kusal P's dominance was complete.
Not merely the highest last-wicket stand in a successful fourth-innings chase in test cricket but the highest in all first-class cricket - what an achievement!
166People should stop going to the pub, have a few cans at home, and cut down on smoking. That's what I did....I save about £300 a month and pay £80 for Sky.Considering the huge cost of bringing so many Sports from all around the world then Sky is very good value-for-money.It's just a case of deciding one's preferences.Sport will never return to the BBC...they can't afford it.
As an SL supporter, there hasn’t been much to cheer about since the whitewas of the Aussies, but this was unbelievable. This eclipsed the victory of my other team during week, Spurs against Dortmund! I saw the last few runs being scored, amazing.
