That was disgusting & despicable from Dhoni. He should be banned from the IPL & maybe even the World Cup.What Ashwin did - was legal. What Dhoni did - was illegal..
A good selection overall. Very happy to see Beaumont in, after a cracking 2018 - ditto Buttler & Curran, who dug England out of some very deep holes. Those who deride TB's inclusion miss the bigger picture. 51% of our population is female. The women's game may never match the men's for physical spectacle, but it's improving rapidly - & it's *cricket*, so will always be better than the Blundred.
All these five cricketers richly deserve this ,one among them three times in row .Every body contributed for their team that is rally great .Sam Curran how he turn the tables against India & how Kohli fought against heavy odds in spite of team limitations is remarkable & to be remembered for long time.congratulations& look forward some more from them
The following "fab five" made the greatest impact to cricket. They should be Wisden's five Cricketers of the Year.1 - Cameron Bancroft2 - Alex Hales3 - Steve Smith4 - Ben Stokes5 - David Warner?
@152You are so right about punctuation, thanks for taking my cheeky comment in the right spirit. Good luck today to Surrey and my County Lancs.
151. Posted by sapientia9 on 18 minutes ago@148Just reread your interesting and informative note, I did not realise that Ollie Pope was Sam Curran's brother! You can learn a great deal from these columns. --Amazing how a missed punctuation mark can alter the whole meaning of a sentence!

Surprised the Somerset mob aren't on here calling for honours for Mr Hildreth! I have been watching Sam Curran since he first appeared on the 1st class scene, saw straight away that he was a very special player. With the likes of him, his brother Ollie Pope, Rory Burns, Jamie Smith etc, looks like a long run in the upper part of Div 1 for Surrey.
Bit off topic i knowJust saw the new Fosters beer add brilliant :-)
@144Sort of agree with you about Denley but winning man of series against India and the county championship is probably as good as it gets for most cricketers.Btw did you see we have lost Twohig for season.
@143I withdraw the last bit of my comment cheap shot. But my point is that now young girls can aspire to be proffesional cricketers, rugby players and footballers something that was not an option a few years ago. This is mostly due to coverage on tv and the commercial sponsorships this brings
Personally I would have had Denly ahead of Curran. Helping get his side promoted & having an excellent season in limited over cricket. You would think Curran has years ahead to achieve more, perhaps Wisden think this is as good as it will get for him.
@138Good job they didnt see last years list there were 3 women nominated. I@140 I dont think its about equality i think its more about girls having female role models in cricket to inspire them to play the game. If the standard is not as good at present so what dont watch it. Or are women only allowed to make the teas and do the score book in your view?
Not sure why Jos Buttler was included?Anyone who manages to get himself Mankaded "twice", should be disqualified..
Well, at least no one’s grumbling about Jos Buttler’s inclusion! Congratulations to all of you, you’ve done well.
