Cavendish has moved into seventh in the overall standings in the Tour of Qatar

Britain's Mark Cavendish has recorded his second victory as a Team Sky rider on stage five of the Tour of Qatar.

Cavendish won a sprint from Italy's Daniel Oss and Slovakian Peter Sagan at the end of the 160km ride from Camel Race Track to Al Khor.

The 26-year-old, moved into seventh in the overall standings.

He is one minute five seconds behind overall leader Tom Boonen who holds a 31-second advantage over Tyler Farrar.

Cavendish's Team Sky team-mates Juan Antonio Flecha and Bernhard Eisel were third and fifth respectively.

A five-man breakaway group split from the peloton in the early stages - but heading into the final 10km, the final two riders Liquigas-Cannondale's Maciej Bodnar and Katusha's Aliaksandr Kuchynski were caught.

With 5km to go Gatis Smukulis caused a hold-up in the main peloton when he fell but luckily for the chasing group only Farrar was effected.

The peloton remained together for the finish with Flecha launching the first attack, closely followed by Team Sky's Eisel and Davide Appollonio, but it was Cavendish who worked his way into a perfect position to cross the line first.

Friday's sixth and final stage will cover 120.5km from Sealine Beach Resort north to the Doha Corniche in the east of the country.
