Mark Cavendish heads strong National Road Race field

World champion Mark Cavendish will compete alongside a host of Olympic hopefuls in the National Road Race Championships in Yorkshire on 24 June.

Alex Dowsett, Christopher Froome, Luke Rowe, Jeremy Hunt, Peter Kennaugh, Ian Stannard, Ben Swift and Geraint Thomas are all included in Team Sky's line-up.

Ed Clancy and Andy Tennant are part of the Rapha Condor Sharp team.

Lizzie Armitstead, last year's women's champion, will race for the AA drink leontien.nl team.

Their team also includes fellow Olympic road race hopefuls Sharon Laws, Lucy Martin and Emma Pooley.

The men's elite race will take place over 113.7 miles at Ampleforth Abbey, North Yorkshire.

Olympic gold medalist Bradley Wiggins won last year's men's race.
