#26 baggyone: As great as Porte is (and everyone else on that team), I would rate Geraint Thomas above him. Riding with a cracked pelvis since day 2, pulling CF up the mountains for kilometer after kilometer on the penultimate stage, there is a real hero for us. And he didn't get a decent article on any British rag. Shameful that. But Froomie is great!
#76 jw4ever: I assume that David Bond's knowledge of French (same with German) is poor. This happens to most, if not all British. So he may not have understood the French article properly. I know an Englishman who has a 1/1 in French from Oxford but his French is lousy. So we may have to forgive David Bond for his shortcomings.
In my middle teens, I was a below average sportsman (athletics) at school. So I decided to train, joined the sports club and got coached, how to improve on my own. The following year I was not only the best sprinter in class, but in school. Amazement all round, questions. The simple answer was "training training training". No drugs. As with Froome.
David, I reluctantly read this article after your lamentable interview with Mark Cavendish after the Olympic cycle race. The article is much better than I thought, although, not sure that your comparison of CF to BW re revelling in the spotlight is correct.
86 you are an idiot! We are in the internet era - read, read, read./ Read the bad stuff, Willy Voet etc. then read about the biological passport, read about how teams are run now. You are out of touch, and uneducated.
fantastic year for British sport - rugby, cricket, tennis and cycling!and all this after the Olympics last year!well done Froome
If we learnt anything from the Pharmstrong era, it's that it is IMpossible for a clean rider to beat the dopers. And I'm giving 25-to-1 this tour was not clean.
@jdoreilly85Your comments add nothing. If you're sick of it then why not write to the BBC and express your dissatisfaction that way instead of using a public forum to embarrass the journalist who wrote it. Pathetic and almost troll like behavior which exists far too much on what should be a more sophisticated form of shared discussion about a topical subject people are interested about.
I can't believe the BBC standard of journalism currently. These chimps are paid to report. What the actually do is sensationalise and give their ill-informed opinions.Starting to get sick of it
@ 24Maybe if Cliff represented India in the Common Wealth games they would.
I will try again... 14 of the previous 17 wins in the Tour de France have been drugs-tainted (recent BBC article). It is entirely natural for us to be sceptical when we see an extraordinary performance by Froome up Mont Ventoux (and besides). He completely dominated this tour. Given cycling's chequered history, it is not unreasonable for cycling afficionados to have our doubts.
79 JamesChris Froome took British citizenship in 2008, he doesn't just have a passport. They played God Save the Queen on the podium, not Ee Mungu Nguvu Yetu. He himself has declared he always felt British. Ultimately he is entitled to do what he wants, and he has chosen to be British not Kenyan,so its not for anyone else to "claim" him. Smart ass posts fail when you get your facts wrong.
