Scottish cyclocross champion Rab Wardell will compete in four races in six days in Belgium and in doing so will become the country's first senior male to compete in top European events.

The Glasgow-based rider begins at the Versluys Cyclocross in Bredene on Saturday 27 December, followed by a floodlit Superprestige race in Diegem.

Wardell then races in Loenhout in the first of two BPost Bank Trofee events.

His fourth ride is in the Grand Prix Sven Nys in Baal on New Year's Day.

The races are expected to attract the world's top-ranked riders.

Wardell, 29, who rides for the Orange Monkey team, has dominated the Scottish cyclocross scene this season, winning the Scottish Series and Championships titles.

He will return home to race in the Dig In at the Dock event at Bo'ness Dock on 4 January.
