Esteban Chaves has now won two stages at this year's Vuelta a Espana

Britain's Chris Froome remains in contention at the Vuelta a Espana after Esteban Chaves regained the overall race lead with victory on stage six.

Colombia's Chaves attacked two kilometres from the finish in Sierra de Cazorla to win his second stage.

Froome, hoping to become the third rider to win the Vuelta and Tour de France in the same year, is seventh after finishing alongside his rivals.

Team Sky's Froome came in 11 seconds behind Chaves and is 55 seconds back.

Froome remains two seconds ahead of Colombia's Nairo Quintana, one of his main rivals for the overall victory.

He is six seconds adrift of fellow contender Alejandro Valverde of Spain and one second clear of Joaquim Rodriguez.

Chaves held off Ireland's Dan Martin and Dutchman Tom Dumoulin, to win the 200.5km stage by five seconds.
