Isle of Man Adventure Race 2016: Gruelling challenge awaits for group of 40

One of last year's specialist stages saw competitors leap from a 30ft platform into the sea

Around 40 people will take on the gruelling Seven Kingdoms - Isle of Man Adventure Race on Saturday.

Competitors must self-navigate a number of specialist stages which include running, mountain biking and kayaking through Manx countryside.

The 25-mile (40 km) course will also include three specialist stages which will be revealed on the day.

Race Director Keirron Tastagh said: "This journey is like no other event on the island."

The race will get under way in St John's at 10:00 BST and finish on Port Erin beach.

The event will see competitors mountain bike through Archallagan and South Barrule plantations before running the Raad ny Foillan coastal footpath to Bradda Head.

The specialist stages will be held at Archallagan, Cringle Reservoir and Milner's Tower.
