Simply the BEST, nothing more, nothing less. An outstanding achievement by an outstanding athlete & I think once & for all he proved he has a personality, he is polite, funny the right times and always very thankful of his team. What more can anyone want from him, I do hope he becomes Sir Chris if would be so wrong if this does not happen & yes it would be right for him to be SPOTY.Brilliant
@180. So if they all cheaters all this means is froome is still the best however way you cut it.
Based on the BBC's choices regarding sports reporting (Golf+Tennis) during Chris Froome's 2 major successes this year...All the organisers of the Giro need to do now is change their dates so it ends on the same day as the Grand National - then the BBC can complete a historical treble of their own!
Froome is now among the all time UK sports stars; Jackie stewart, Daley Thompson, Steve Redgrave, Ian Botham, Carlton Palmer. Should win SPOTY; Won't win SPOTY. He shouldn't care. The Giro i think are in a difficult position;No-one who's serious about winning the Tour will enter the Giro - it's impossible to do well in both. But riders may now try and "do a Froome", and win TdF and Vuelta
Matteo Trentin was ignorant, ungracious, disrespectful and unsportsmanlike in his attitude and comments after being pipped by 2 points for Green Jersey by Chris Froome.
I don't know for sure, but I suspect the peloton gave Contador the benefit of the doubt too. They disliked and feared for Armstrong, for his behaviour as much as his cheating. Look at the glowing tributes from many teammates, past and present. The team riding at the front yesterday slowing down to let Contador have his lap of honour wasn't Trek. It was Sky, led by Froome.
And no one should forget that when Wiggins won, Froome came second - whilst acting as his domestique.... that's a feat worthy of some praise. CF has had some great domestiques, but none that good, who would have stepped up and won had they been given the word by Brailsford
Hats off to Froome for also going for / defending the green jersey yesterday.
Listening Roche senior this morning he says winning all three GT's in one calendar year is humanly impossible, I take his word on that, so the only chance Froome is likely to get to hold all three GT titles simultaneously is by winning the Giro next May, it could tempt him?
Surprised that the BBC has this victory for British Cycling on the front page at all. Yet it continues to follow and celebrate a minority sport and event that has been won by some from another country.

Tragic that Nadal is taking the headline. What Froome achieved is historic.
