Geraint Thomas will compete for Team Sky in Sunday's team time trial at the Road World Championships in Bergen, despite having pulled out of the Great Britain team for the road race.
Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana winner Chris Froome, Owain Doull, Vasil Kiryienka, Michal Kwiatkowski and Gianni Moscon are also selected.
Team Sky's Brett Lancaster said: "The guys are going to be really motivated after the Vuelta win."
The championships begin on Sunday.
Thomas was the highest-placed British rider at last week's Tour of Britain, his first race since breaking his collarbone in the Tour de France in July.
British Cycling head coach Iain Dyer said on Tuesday that the withdrawal of riders, including the Welshman, from his GB squad was "unfortunate but understandable".
He added: "We are coming to the end of a long season for the road riders and injury and illness becomes inevitable so their decisions to withdraw themselves from selection are respected."

No, GT has, in conjunction with British cycling, and his actual employer, Sky, come to a joint decision that he's not fit enough to race in both events, and that he's better used in the TTT - where Sky are flying the flag for GB.
Reality is that the road race doesn't suit the GB squad this year. It's basically a dead-flat course and Cav isn't available. GT would be wasted there.
No problems with G admitting that he's not fit enough current to back up the TTT effort to go for individual honours and hence freeing up a space in the GB line up for someone raring to go.
p.s. Stop feeding the trolls. Never heard of any of them, but yet will insist Froome is on drugs and a Kenyan.
Well I can see why your post was down voted 32 to 0. What a load of tripe! You clearly haven't a clue about cycling or the commitment of its participants, including GT.
Don't worry. He always does it. The answer is in his screen name!
Because professional cyclists don't have the spare time to train together as a national team to gel as a team time trial unit?
There is of course a certain Dutchman who will take some beating, but bring it on!!
Cyclists should under no circumstances cycle three abreast.
Cyclists should only cycle two abreast when conditions allow.
Read the Highway Code.
I'm a cyclist, on one lane country roads I give a mouthful to 2 abreast cyclists.
Coming back from injury G is right to go for a shorter event.
Go Froomey, GT and Team GB.
I reckon, unless the weather is really against them, the Colombians could go really well. Gaviria for the win, anyone?
This is a HYS about professional cyclists road racing and doing TT's not about Joe Public riding their push bikes on roads/footpaths.
There are other places to debate the law and the Highway code, just so you know what it says in the Highway Code is not necessarily the law.
