@29.what planet are you on? Sagan not a great sprinter...ehthis guy can win tdf/big tour main sprints, worlds, one day sprints, one upo, four up sprints. That as well as breakaways. For me the best one day racer since cancellara or boonen etc. Theyve made the worlds ' 'uphill' this year so probably not his cup of tea....but not a sprinter....think you need to check out some of his victories
rip Michael Goolaertsre Sagan. The more i watch the more i am in awe. You cant win all races but as he said himself re nibali's win in san remo...he who dares wins. Sagan dares in roubaix and rode away when everyone else watched. An impressive victory and he dragged another rider to the end for 50km...over cobbles! However Terpstras move to win flanders was even better. Cant wait for the ardennes
RIP young man and my condolences to his family, friends. team-mates and the cycling world.
Very saddened to hear of the death of Michael Goolaerts. A tragedy.
Sky had a poor squad for the tactics they chose. They tried a lite version of QS’s Wolfpack, except instead of Terpstra, Stybar, Gilbert and Lampaert they had Rowe (coming back from injury), Thomas (focused on GTs), Moscon (likewise) and Stannard (outsider at best). PR and De Ronde are not races to try something and see. Inevitably if you don’t have a strategy worked out, you will fail.
Very sad to read about Michael Goolaerts.
@25 - Sky had a decent squad for PR. Standard and Thomas in particular. Just wasn't their day. As for 'cheat' remarks, where's the definitive proof Sky have cheated? Motors? Blood bags? CERA ampoules? HGH? Lance as Training Consultant? The UCI would be after them if there was such evidence
I feel so sorry for Micheal Goolaerts. Rest In Peace.
And Team SLY nowhere to be seen!
The death of a such a young rider (not that age should matter) puts a perspective on the race. Yes, well done to Sagan, who is an immensely gifted rider, & Dillier who put in a huge shift. But PR 2018 will sadly be remembered for another reason.Strongly suspect Michael's cardiac arrest was the result of trauma rather than an underlying condition. These guys are continually monitored medically.
Such tragic news about the death of a young cyclist. Rest in peace Michael.
RIP Michael Goolaerts, such terribly sad news
Terrible, terrible news about Michael Goolaerts, RIP.Young, active people are highly prone to cardiac arrest (e.g. Fabrice Muamba and James Taylor) - it's so important that any young person doing regular sport goes to get a heart scan to spot these awful life-ending defects.
