Starting to believe this now ! Just hope he didn’t go too far into the red yesterday, I saw a hollow eyed zombie on the warm down bike barely able to turn the pedals
Hey @qcumborApple pie won ;)
BTW what a great days cycling. Yates what a great ride, backed himself and delivered. Quintana not sure what his motivation is but it doesn't seem strong.Yogi Stannard - Awesome. You blokes do what you want I'm just going for a 200 km time trial, see you later.I should be going out but what with Vuelta, Tour of Britain and the 5th Test, my sofa seems to be the saddle I am riding most.
@44 I think we both know that but doesn't do much for credibility when commenters cannot get the name correct for a person that is pictured in the next column with a caption giving her name! :(
Great ride by SY yesterday! However, when is brother Adam going to provide some real support or is he out of condition and just going through the motions? That doesn't sound like Adam, so I hope he steps up especially for the final week.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cycling/45345249@36 I think he means Rachel Atherton who is basically brilliant.
Right, so, it’s Lagos de Covadonga day. Time to tear it up and win the Vuelta.
Very, very, good ride by S.Y. yesterday . Well judged when it looked as though Quintana may have made the break. Today is all important as S.Y. has faded in recent G.T.'s
Brilliant ride, GB could end up with all the leaders Jersey's.The French may never forgive us...
Where are all those ignoramases who were saying this vuelta would be lacking without froome and thomas?
Anyone doubting the ability of these guys, just try a climb at 17% !
Great stuff from SY. And he wears a proper cycling cap post race not a silly looking baseball cap! Good man. Classy cyclist.
Bravo Simon Yates,let’s hope he can survive the last week.Quintana still looks a danger but not quite at his best.
@qcumbor Who is Appleton?
Fingers crossed Simon has got the legs in the final week and not crack like he did in the Giro.Tomorrow and stage 17 are tough but the two days in Andorra will decide the outcome.Yatesy knows the Andorran mountains well as he is based there so hopefully it will give him an advantage.
I wonder what is going on at Movistar. Quintana seems to be completely lacking in self confidence.
25 Finkelstein‘Yates was reared on his hometown Bury Black Pudding, made with fresh pigs blood, belly fat and rusk’I’m pretty sure he prefers a McDonalds. Seriously he looked good today. Really good. Looked like the winner. And ironic that he’s probably looking at the time trial to maybe extend his lead.
@25😂 well he’s not getting much of it today. Nowadays with team chefs the spread is rather good, but still disgustingly healthy. I recall that MS riders used to eat plain steamed rice before time trials. Maybe Yates has a single secret sausage that he slices into his pre TT carb load.
@20Recces are done by bike, with the riders riding the route, or by car, with the riders in the car, or by someone filming the route. The last is least effective.Have you ever tried to visualise a route from Strava and Google Earth? To the extent you know when to attack on a particular turn, or that the gradient changes when the road surface changes? Yates knew the latter today.
