Adrian Lewis defeated Vincent van der Voort 13-5 to book his place in the quarter-finals of the World Matchplay.
Lewis, who survived a real scare against Kevin Painter in round one, was never in trouble against the world number 15 from the Netherlands.
And the world champion completed victory with a 170 checkout.
"When I went 5-0 up, I took my foot off the gas and he came back well, but then I hit another gear when he got back to 6-4," said Lewis, from Stoke-on-Trent.
"I've come off with a 100 average but still think I was in second gear. I wasn't pushed and I was relaxed all the way through the game."
Lewis plays Mark Webster in the last eight, following the Welshman's 13-7 win over Steve Beaton.
Raymond van Barneveld defeated Paul Nicholson 13-9 and James Wade edged a close match against Mark Walsh 13-11 to reach the quarter-finals.
