2010 champion Scott Waites out of Grand Slam of Darts
Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis won their opening matches at the Grand Slam of Darts, while defending champion Scott Waites was eliminated from the event.
Waites, , lost 5-4 to fellow BDO player Tony O'Shea, having led 4-1.
Raymond van Barneveld is also out after a 5-2 defeat to Ted Hankey.
Taylor eased past Norfolk teenager James Hubbard 5-1 in his opening group match, while world champion Lewis edged to a 5-4 win over Martin Phillips.
Hubbard was making his television debut against the 15-time world champion and impressed the Wolverhampton crowd, as well as his more illustrious opponent.
"I didn't know how James would play, but he did well," said Taylor, from Stoke-on-Trent.
"I'd watched him practising before the game and he should keep doing what he's doing because he'll settle down on stage and play his natural game.
"He's dedicated and he's got a big future ahead of him."
Hubbard added: "I was very nervous coming out on the stage but I felt much better once I was on stage and throwing my darts."
Taylor's second group game on Monday is against Steve Beaton, who knocked the world number one out of the Grand Slam at the quarter-final stage last year.
