BDO World Trophy: Geert de Vos and Lisa Ashton win titles

Geert de Vos reached the last 16 of the World Championship in January

Belgium's Geert de Vos won the BDO World Trophy in Manchester, his first major title, while Bolton's Lisa Ashton was victorious in the women's event.

De Vos, 33, trailed Dutch opponent Jeffrey de Graaf 4-0 in the final but clinched a 10-9 win in a deciding leg.

World champion Scott Mitchell lost to Wayne Warren of Wales in the last 16.

Ashton, 44, who retained her World Championship title at Lakeside in January, beat Russia's Anastasia Dobromyslova 7-5 in the women's final.
