Britain's Andrew Lapthorne and Peter Norfolk were beaten by American top seeds Nick Taylor and David Wagner in the British Open men's doubles final.
Lapthorne and Norfolk, the reigning Australian Open and Doubles Masters champions, lost 6-1 7-6 to the American pair at the Nottingham Tennis Centre.
The Britons saved match point at 5-2 in the second set but were eventually defeated in the tie-break.
"We have had a good week and I'll be back next year," said Lapthorne.
"We managed to make a good match of it in the second set and it needed a big effort to come back from where we were, but it wasn't to be today."
