Former BDO World Champion Andy Fordham's brilliant tongue in cheek response when asked if he considered himself to be an athlete:"I wear trainers and I've been on Grandstand, so yes"So that's that put to bed then ☺☺
Well done to him, hope his arm gets better soon.
Maybe he would have done better if he wasn't injured. Maybe he wouldn't have been injured if he trained better. Maybe he would have trained better if he wasn't concentrating on that abomination of a TV 'show' Splash.
Mark L, Darts is a game, not a sport, which Phil Taylor is undeniably extremely good at, but not the point. To come 6th in the World Champs with an injury is a really impressive performance. Hardly a flop as some people are wrongly stating.
Just like to say a big well done to Jazz Carlin on her PB. Watching you would have sworn that she touched in third! This illustrates the fine margins between so called success and failure. Tom did an excellent job in the circumstances; I'm sure he will be pleased with the result.
#69 - darts is a sport as it is a physical activity with an international governing body, therefore it is a sport by definition. But that has nothing to do with Daly. Strange how some people leap on this as a "fail". It's as if people hate winners and losers equally. At the highest level the difference between 1st and 10th is minute. Only those who have tried would understand this.
Re: 58: "Has he actually done anything apart from being the "next promising" thing in diving"World champion in 2009, Olympic Bronze, double European Champion. All by the age of 19.Whereas Gareth Bale, who you seem to think is rather talented, has won... a runner's up medal in the League Cup.
Darts is a 'pastime' not a sport, so to compare the 'sporting' talent if Phil Taylor with Tom Daley is crass in the extreme!
Yet another fail by Daly. he is bigged up so much in the press but time and time again he fails to deliver. Don't get me wrong he is talented...but needs to produce the goods before preening himself in front of the cameras everytime he sees one.
Another flop by Daly but he still get the headlines Phil Taylor won his 14th world match play last night and not even a mention on bbc sport
Well done. Im sure Arthur will be very proud.
There are some pathetic comments here. What is it that makes people want to say so many negative, unkind and just plain stupid remarks?
oh please, go boil your head sanctimonious fool
This comment was removed because it broke the house rules. Explain
"not getting any younger"He's 19!Anyway, none of the others are getting younger either, so he should be fine...
@ 59Yeah my bad. I didn't really read the whole article. He was World Champion but 3 years later all he could manage was a "bronze" medal at the Olympics. And now with his injury and he is not getting any younger, perhaps his "great" career is destined to take a "dive".
