Relegation-threatened Wolves have been hit by the news that midfielder David Edwards will be ruled out for at least a month because of a back injury.
The Welshman has suffered a stress reaction in his spine and must rest before undergoing further scans.
He has played in 18 games this season - scoring one goal - but has struggled with thigh and hamstring problems.
Edwards, 25, will miss the Premier League games against Aston Villa, Newcastle and Everton.
Wolves are 19th in the table - two points from safety, with nine games left to play.
The head of Wolves' medical department Steve Kemp said: "Dave complained of lower back stiffness after the Blackpool game.
"As a result, he had a scan, which showed up the stress reaction in his lumbar spine.
"With these findings it's not worth risking him carrying on playing with the injury as it could develop into something more serious.
"It's actually fortunate we found the problem quite early and we now intend to manage the injury by treating Dave over the next month after which we will reassess."
