Derby 2-2 Coventry

Gunnarsson's spectacular goal opened the scoring

Strugglers Derby and Coventry shared four first-half goals and the points in a lively Pride Park match.

Gary McSheffrey went close for City before Aron Gunnarsson's bicycle kick put them ahead, and Marlon King doubled the lead with a simple finish.

But two Rams goals before the break levelled things - Steve Davies headed in a free-kick and Robbie Savage netted a penalty after a foul on Jamie Ward.

Chances were scarce in a less entertaining second half.

Going into the match, just one point separated the sides at the wrong end of the table, so a win for either would have been a huge relief.

And it was the visitors who made the stronger start, with Lukas Jutkiewicz setting up an early chance for McSheffrey, who could only blaze over the bar.

He then went close a second time after his shot was deflected just wide of the post, before City eventually took a deserved lead through Gunnarsson, after Brad Jones failed to gather Sammy Clingan's corner.

Derby replied brightly, with Keiren Westwood forced to produce an excellent save from Steve Davies, but on 38 minutes King had an easy finish to double the lead.

With time running out before the break, though, Steve Davies nodded in Ben Davies' excellent free-kick, and on the stroke of half-time, the home side were level.

King brought down Ward, and Savage finished things off.

Chances were thin on the ground after the break, with the best falling to Derby's Theo Robinson, but he was denied by Westwood.
