Brighton have moved to within one win of League One automatic promotion after beating resurgent Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls had won their previous two games, but Chris Wood put the hosts ahead from the spot after Danny Batth brought Glenn Murray down.
Elliott Bennett put the result beyond doubt with a fierce, crisp strike into the top corner.
The Seagulls' Gordon Greer picked up a straight red card for an off-the-ball incident in the closing stages.
Gary Megson told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"I think arguably it's as poor as I've seen since I joined on February the 4th. We didn't pass the ball at all well when we got on to it.
"We didn't compete well enough and I think maybe allowances have got to be made for the fact that we played mid-week and they didn't and that we've had to traipse down here for 6 hours yesterday.
"I think if you just took the game on today's performance I don't think we would have one player who would get in Brighton's team."
