Scotland Under-21 forward Johnny Russell has completed an awards treble for Dundee United.

The 20-year-old has been named young player of the month for March in the Scottish Premier League.

Peter Houston had already received his Clydesdale Bank award for being manager of the month, while fellow striker David Goodwillie was named top player.

Russell continued his own good form by scoring in United's excellent 3-2 win over Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.

He struck in the 77th minute against the title-chasing defending champions before Goodwillie fired another with 60 seconds remaining to stun the Glasgow side as United came from behind to take the three points.

That brought Russell's total for the season to six, including both goals in a 2-0 win over Hearts during United's fine month.

The Tannadice side have now won their last six league matches, the one blot on their recent record being a 3-0 Scottish Cup quarter-final defeat by Motherwell.

Russell is a product of United's youth system and made his debut in May 2007, but it was not until this season that he has featured regularly in the first team.
