Bury moved up to second in League Two by beating Burton in a match which saw three red cards.
Damien Mozika was dismissed for the Shakers just before the break for a poor challenge on Tony James.
The Brewers also lost a man when Sam Winnall was shown a straight red card for a foul on Steven Schumacher.
Tom Lees headed in a Peter Sweeney cross to put the home side ahead, before they had Efe Sodje sent off late after a clash with Lewis Young.
Bury are now two points ahead of Wycombe in third, whilst Burton remain out of the relegation zone on goal difference.
Burton manager Paul Peschisolido told BBC Radio Derby: "I was delighted with the performance. The boys worked ever so hard and we were superb. I thought we pretty much nullified everything they had and they're a good side.
"Everything was on our side except for a bizarre decision. I can't see how that was a red card in a million years. He's poked the ball with his right foot and you see referees even things up and for me, that's what he did.
"We'll certainly have a look at that [appealing], but if they've seen it the same way I've seen it and probably everyone in the crowd and their management and the fourth official's seen it, who knows? But we'll have a look at it and make a decision on the basis of that."
