Shrewsbury kept up the chase for an automatic promotion spot in League Two as they eased past Stockport.
Tom Bradshaw beat the offside trap and rounded visiting keeper Matt Glennon to open the scoring.
Moments later Bradshaw was brought down in the box by Glennon and Nicky Wroe converted from the spot to make it 2-0.
County's best chances came in the second half but James Vincent's shot went wide and Shrews keeper Ben Smith twice saved from Anthony Elding.
The Shrews' victory denied Chesterfield the chance to wrap up promotion with four games left.
POST-MATCH REACTION
Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner:
"I think the players were disappointed with the second-half performance, disappointed with the way it went.
"That's an amazing reaction to winning a game at this stage of the season.
"It's three points and we've got to be pleased with that."
Stockport County manager Ray Mathias told BBC Radio Manchester:
"Two school boy goals have cost us really and they're just amateur defending, you don't even see that on a Sunday morning at the park.
"I've got into them at half-time, really slaughtered them, first time I've done it really and we got a response from the players.
"I sad to the lads at the end we've got nobody in the team who wants to score a goal unfortunately."
