Bournemouth sealed their first win in eight games as Notts County sunk to a club record ninth straight defeat.
Anton Robinson's powerful header put the Cherries ahead in the second half.
And they doubled their lead when Danny Ings stormed through the County defence and placed the ball past stranded goalkeeper Stuart Nelson.
The Magpies will be left to rue missed chances from Lee Hughes and Craig Westcarr, as both saw several efforts go just wide of the target.
Bournemouth boss Lee Bradbury:
"You get out what you put in and the lads worked really hard from front to back.
"It's pleasing for us the way we've seen the game out, overall a great performance.
"We want to get in to the play-offs and we want to get promoted. If we play like that week in and week out, it's in our hands."
