Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies said striker Robbie Findley is close to returning to action.

The 25-year-old injured his thigh in training soon after his free transfer to the Reds from Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake.

Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He's making steady progress coming back and is back in training.

"If he can come through the next few days training he might be a week or two away [from fitness]."

Forest are a point adrift of the play-offs following the midweek victory over Burnley and Davies sees Findley as a vital part of the club's push for promotion.

"He could be a very important player for us for the last three, four, five games or so," Davies added.

"We are at a needs-must situation, we are throwing all these guys back in, as that's what we've got.

"We will keep trying to rush some players back in and perhaps force them back a bit earlier than we'd like."
