Aldershot 1-2 Burton Albion

Calvin Zola's late winner eased Burton's relegation fears as they grabbed a vital victory at Aldershot.

Burton's Aaron Webster prodded home after John McGrath's corner, but Aldershot levelled as Damian Spencer cut in and fired past Adam Legzdins.

Zola scored the decisive goal, latching on to a fine pass from Jacques Maghoma and stroking the ball past Jamie Young.

Burton were awarded a penalty when Darren Jones fouled Maghoma but Greg Pearson's effort was saved by Young.

POST-MATCH REACTION

Aldershot manager Dean Holdsworth told BBC Surrey:

"On the day the front two for Burton were the difference in the game.

"This wasn't a 'throw away game' for us at the end of the season, and I know my players are disappointed by their own performance.

"Damien Spencer took his goal really well for us, and if we had got out of second gear we probably would have won the game but we never did."

Burton boss Paul Peschisolido told BBC Radio Derby:

"It was massive, but what's more important was the performance. That's four games now where the lads have played some fantastic football.

"We've been resilient and they're really pulling for one another. Today was hot and it was a horrible day as much as I played it down.

"We should have won it 3-1 one with the penalty but it doesn't matter because the victory is a very nice feeling."
