Walsall dropped into the League One relegation zone after they only managed to draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
Jon Macken fired the Saddlers ahead early on after Julian Gray's cross had deflected into his path.
The Owls drew level midway through the first half when Jimmy Walker parried a Lewis Buxton effort to the feet of Neil Mellor, who tapped in the equaliser.
Walker tipped a Buxton drive wide and Gary Madine headed over for the Owls, but the home side held on for a point.
Sheffield Wednesday boss Gary Megson told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"I thought for nine tenths of the game, we were very good. We set off poorly, Walsall got the ball into our last third and couldn't seem to get out for maybe 10 minutes, obviously scored the first goal and we just didn't get going.
"After they did score the first goal, I thought we improved dramatically very quickly and scored what I felt was a good goal and then I thought we were the best team.
"I thought that we had the most of the chances, we had most of the possession and we created a lot more and we just needed that second goal."
