Oxford United goalkeeper Ryan Clarke hopes the experience gained in League Two this season will help the club progress next year.

Oxford sit 12th, having won promotion to the Football League last May after a four-year absence.

"It's been a good learning curve for us," said Clarke, 28. "Hopefully what we've learnt this year will put us in good stead for next year,

"It's about picking yourself up when things go wrong," he told BBC Oxford.

"When we've lost, that's exactly what I've done and I hope that shows in my performances."

The former Bristol Rovers goalkeeper, who has kept 10 clean sheets in 44 league games this season, says he has been pleased with his overall performance this year.

"I've been happy," he said. "I feel I've been consistent.

"I haven't had any howlers yet and gifted anyone anything, so I'm just pleased to be back in the league.

"I've never taken my position for granted and Simon Eastwood has pushed me all the way this year. Whatever happens, it will be the same next year."
