Scott Chaplain's late strike earned Albion Rovers a draw against Queen's Park in the first leg of their Second Division play-off semi-final.
Smith gave the Spiders the lead after 11 minutes when he converted David Anderson's cross from close range.
Goalkeeper Adam Strain denied Rovers' Robert Love and John Gemmell, while an effort from Steven Canning struck as the visitors pressed for an equaliser.
However, Chaplain scored from close range in the 80th minute.
