Swindon defender Kevin Amankwaah is confident he will be fully fit to return for pre-season after undergoing surgery on a knee injury.

The 28-year-old missed the final seven games of the League One campaign.

Amankwaah told BBC Radio Wiltshire: "It was painful but it all went well. I've started running now and by pre-season I'll be able to join up with the boys.

"It was hard not playing in the final games but I had to get it done because it was really niggling at me."

Amankwaah has made 23 appearances for the Robins this season but has not featured since his side's 1-0 defeat at Exeter on 29 March.

He arrived at the County Ground from Swansea on a free transfer in June 2008.

Swindon were relegated to League Two after finishing bottom of League One.
