Oxford United to sign Leyton Orient defender Andy Whing

Oxford United will sign Leyton Orient defender Andy Whing on a two-year-deal when his contract ends this summer.
Whing, 26, joined Orient from Brighton in October, initially on loan, and scored two goals in 28 games.
The right-back, who can also play at centre-back, has played for Coventry, Brighton and Chesterfield and turned down a new one-year deal at Orient.
"I like to get forward but first and foremost I'm a defender. I'm definitely looking for promotion," Whing said.
He added: "Oxford is a fantastic club with a lovely stadium and it gets great attendances that are worthy of a Championship side. It shows the potential here."
The defender started his career at Coventry and made 119 appearances for the Sky Blues before he moved to Brighton in October 2006.
Whing spent four years with the Seagulls but after struggling to find a first-team place he signed a loan deal with Chesterfield in March 2010.
However, his stint at Chesterfield only lasted until the end of the 2009/10 season and he soon found himself back at Brighton.
Having played just one game for the Seagulls this season he decided to join Orient on a free transfer in January after a successful loan spell.
U's boss Chris Wilder said: "Andy has played in the Championship and League One and brings a lot of experience with him.
"He's a consistent performer week in and week out and will help strengthen the squad we have."
Whing is Oxford's third defensive recruit this summer, following Tony Capaldi and Ryan James to the Kassam Stadium.
U's right-back Damian Batt was named in the PFA League Two team of the season and second-choice right-sided defender Ben Purkiss is on the transfer list.
