Roberto Mancini believes Manchester City's achievements this season are only the start of a prolonged period of success for the world's richest club.
Eight days after winning the FA Cup, City finished third to qualify for the Champions League group stage.
"This is only the beginning," said boss Mancini after . "We can have more satisfaction in the future."
Mancini also reiterated that he thinks captain Carlos Tevez will stay and stressed the need to buy more players.
"It's been a fantastic season," he told BBC Sport. "I must thank all the players.
"[But] we need more time to improve more. This is another step but we want to take more. This is really important [that we do so].
Asked to explain City's first trophy for 35 years and highest league finish since 1977, Mancini added: "I know only one way: work hard. Also believing in ourselves always. When we lose, it's in that moment when we can develop the team.
"It's different to last year. I only got the team in December, I came from another country.
"Last year we didn't do a pre-season [because of the World Cup]. This year we can do a full pre-season. One month together working every day, we can do more.
"We need other players. This [is] normal, if we want to be like all the other top teams. I think that Carlos Tevez will stay here next season. He's on a five-year contract. It's simple."
Bolton boss Owen Coyle refused to be downbeat despite his side finishing 14th after suffering their fifth defeat in a row.
"The progress we've made at the club is there for all to see," he said.
"The great thing for me is we know there is room for continued improvement. There is more to come.
"I told the players to get their rest in the summer and come back for more next season. Players will be moving on. We need some new freshness and energy in the squad. When we've had injuries this year, we've not been able to replace them like-for-like.
"The players have been running on empty recently.
"If someone comes in with a good fee [for Gary Cahill], we'll have to have a look at it."
