Barrow joint-boss Dave Bayliss says an experienced centre-half is among the club's summer targets, following the departure of Paul Jones.
The Bluebirds have already agreed new deals with existing centre-backs Phil Bolland, 34, and Mike Pearson, 23, for next season.
"He's got Football League experience," Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria.
"The lad is playing in a foreign league and when the season finishes he's coming to train with us."
Bayliss added: "Hopefully we can look at signing him up."
Since completing the 2010-11 Blue Square Bet Premier season, the joint-bosses have tied up the futures of seven out-of-contract first-team players, although full-back Paul Edwards is yet to agree terms.
Edwards, 31, arrived at Holker Street at the tail end of the 2009-10 season, and returned having spent time on trial with Inverness Caledonian Thistle in September.
"We've made offers," Bayliss continued.
"He knows that we want him next season, we sat down with him and he said the money was fine, what we offered was ok.
"Eddy has been fantastic for us, and it would be a great coup to keep him on for next season to add to that bit of experience that we've got."
