Notts County have completed the signing of winger Ishmel Demontagnac from Blackpool on a free transfer.
The 22-year-old was told to find a club after the Tangerines revealed they would not be renewing his contract.
Magpies boss Martin Allen said: "Ishmel definitely has ability and I've given him an incentivised contract hoping he is going to step up to the mark.
"He has speed and he has an attitude, but I have met him and I think and I hope we can work well together."
Demontagnac joined Ian Holloway at Blackpool in August 2009, but only featured 13 times for the Lancashire club including an appearance against Arsenal at the Emirates in August.
He also had a one-month loan spell with Stockport at the beginning of the year.
Allen continued: "I met him in London a few days ago and he turned up early and he was well presented.
"He got the directions himself to where I was meeting him, I had a real good long chat to find out more about him and I like him.
"He has only got a one-year contract and if he does good we have got the option to keep him for one more year. I'm sure this young man can help us win some football matches."
The former England Under-19 international began his career as a trainee at Charlton, before moving to Walsall on a free transfer in 2005.
But the Saddlers terminated his contract after he was arrested a breach of the peace in November 2008.
