Shaun Hutchinson has signed a two-year extension to his deal with Motherwell.
The 20-year-old centre-back's current contract did not expire until next summer but manager Stuart McCall has tied him up on a new deal until 2014.
Hutchinson became a regular for the Fir Park club in the second half of last season after recovering from injury.
His signing follows Wednesday's announcement that captain Stephen Craigan and midfielder Steve Jennings had been offered new contracts.
Hutchinson told the Motherwell website: "As soon as the club made it known they were keen to extend my contract I was delighted to sign.
"I am really enjoying my football and to have the security for another three years is brilliant.
"The second part of last season was going great, the only disappointment being the season had to end as I was ready for another half."
And the Englishman, who signed in 2007 from Wallsend Boys Club, added: "I also really enjoy working with Stuart McCall.
"His training is excellent and he has all the players really bursting a gut for him.
"It's a great environment for any player, particularly one who is young and looking to develop their career."
