Torquay United closer to appointing boss

Torquay United

Torquay United intend to appoint their new manager by the beginning of next week, BBC Spotlight understands.

The Gulls are looking for a replacement for Paul Buckle, who left for Bristol Rovers in May.

More than 50 applications have been received for the vacancy, including all of chairman Simon Baker's preferred candidates.

The club are now in the process of drawing up a shortlist for interviews to be held later this week.

Amongst those linked to the job at Plainmoor are former Bristol Rovers boss Paul Trollope and ex-Torquay captain Chris Hargreaves.
