Winger Jimmy Phillips has signed a new one-year contract with Burton Albion to stay at the club until June 2012.
The 21-year-old has made 53 appearances in two years with the Brewers following his release by Stoke City in 2009.
Phillips said: "I'm very happy. I said before I left for the summer that the club is going in the right direction and we can push on next season.
"I've got to push on now as well. This season is important that I get the games and prove myself."
Burton manager Paul Peschisolido added: "Jimmy did brilliant in his first season and last year his performances came more in fits and spurts.
"I think he would say himself he was frustrated that he didn't get a long run of games but that's football.
"I admire the boy. He works extremely hard and he's got talent and ability.
"Next season hopefully we'll get to see a lot more of Jimmy."
Phillips has scored one league goal for the Brewers, in the 2-1 victory at Grimsby in October 2009.
