Yeovil Town defender Nathan Smith has joined Chesterfield on a two-year deal.
The 24-year-old, who made made 119 appearances for the Glovers, turned down a new deal at Huish Park.
He told the Spireites' website: "My aim is to reach the play-offs, or even promotion. Chesterfield are on the up and I want to be a part of that."
Smith's exit follows the departure of Adam Virgo, Andy Welsh, Dean Bowditch, Martin Gritton and Sam Williams from Terry Skiverton's side.
"Out of everyone Nathan is the one I really wanted to keep," Skiverton told BBC Radio Bristol.
"We pushed the boat out, we went beyond what we would normally offer but I spoke to the lad this morning and he wanted a fresh start and he goes on with my best regards.
"He was an excellent servant to the football club. I've played with him, managed him and you couldn't have got a better player.
"I'm very disappointed he's gone but we move on."
