Morecambe have signed Macclesfield Town defender Izak Reid on a two-year deal for a fee yet to be agreed.
The 23-year-old, who made his Silkmen debut in 2006, turned down a new deal at Town but because he is under 24, Morecambe have to pay a fee.
If the League Two rivals cannot agree on a fee, it will go to a tribunal.
He told the Shrimps website: "Jim [Bentley, manager] really sold the club to me and I'm delighted to be here. He made it clear he really wanted me."
