Nottingham Forest manager Steve McClaren is hopeful he can persuade out-of-contract duo Rob Earnshaw and Guy Moussi to stay at the City Ground.
Wales international striker Earnshaw, 30, and French midfielder Moussi, 26, have both been offered new deals.
McClaren, who is in France talking to Moussi, told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I don't want to lose good players. Robert and Guy are very good players.
"I've got an opportunity to convince them Forest is the club to be at."
McClaren has been linked with a host of players since taking over as Reds boss.
Republic of Ireland international midfielders Andy Reid and Keith Andrews and Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard are just three of the names strongly rumoured to be of interest to the former England manager.
But he is still eager to keep Earnshaw and Moussi, who both joined in the summer of 2008.
"I don't know what other offers they have - they're out of contract and obviously talking to other people," McClaren added.
"I want to speak to them and just see where they're coming from, what their motivation is and what they want to do."
