Walsall manager Dean Smith has made former Luton winger Claude Gnakpa the fourth new face to arrive at the Banks's Stadium this week.

The 28-year-old Frenchman follows in the footsteps of defender Mat Sadler, midfielder Kevan Hurst and striker Ryan Jarvis.

"Claude will bring a different dimension to our game, I'm glad to have him," said Smith.

"He's quick, decent in the air and scores goals."

Gnakpa started his career as a defender at Montpellier before playing lower division football with Marignane and Beaucaire.

A spell in the reserve teams of Racing Santander and Alaves in Spain and a brief period with Vaduz of Liechtenstein followed.

The right-winger arrived in English football with Peterborough in 2007 before spending the last three seasons with Luton.

"I was very impressed by what the manager had to say and the project he has here," Gnakpa noted.

"He made me feel wanted and that made my decision to come here an easy one, I am excited by the challenge that sits before me.

"I'm the type of player that likes to take people on and provide crosses for the strikers. I also like to score goals and I will be looking to weigh in with my fair share here."

Gnapka has agreed a one-year contract at the Banks's Stadium.
