Cheltenham Town have signed Portugese full-back Sido Jombati from Bath City for a nominal fee.

The former Sporting Lisbon youth player, 23, arrives at Whaddon Road on a one-year contract.

He enjoyed spells at Basingstoke and Weymouth before joining Bath in 2009, where he played alongside new Robins striker Kaid Mohammed.

"I'm really determined and want to get to the highest league possible," Jombati told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

"Cheltenham have players who used to play at Bath and they say it's a good place for you to work hard and improve yourself.

"From what I see in the training sessions the team have a lot of quality and I think they can get higher - I would like to get this team to League One.

He added: "Every day I work hard in training and I hope I can do well this season."

Jombati, who can also play in midfield, made 44 appearances during his spell at the Romans and was named their player of the season for last year's Blue Square Bet Premier campaign.
