Kidderminster Harriers defender Tom Sharpe has signed a new one-year deal with the Blue Square Bet Premier club.

Harriers manager Steve Burr said Sharpe struggled with injuries last season but now has a chance to put that behind him.

Burr told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "Tom has always been an important part of things for us here.

"He has another opportunity with us this season and it is a chance for him to kick on," he added.

Sharpe, aged 22, joined Harriers in 2009 and his new deal makes him the longest-serving member of the current squad.

Injury restricted him to only 15 first-team starts during the 2010-11 season, but the Nottingham-born player is regarded as one of the most accomplished defenders within the squad and Burr believes there is a lot more to come from him.
