Peterborough have completed the signing of Yeovil Town full-back Craig Alcock on a three-year deal.
The two clubs have agreed an undisclosed amount of compensation for the 23-year-old and he has flown out to Portugal to join pre-season training.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "Playing Championship football is something I could not have dreamed of in a million years.
"Coming to a bigger club is great experience and a great opportunity."
Posh manager Darren Ferguson told the club website: "We have been after Craig for a while.
"He is a very solid defender who had a good year at Yeovil last season and we are delighted to sign him."
The Glovers were due compensation as the player is under 24 years old.
Alcock came through the youth team at Huish Park and made 121 appearances for the League One club.
