New Gateshead signing Yemi Odubade believes his side could be the Blue Square Bet Premier League's surprise package this season.
The Tynesiders finished 15th in the league last season - their first as a full-time outfit.
Striker Odubade told BBC Newcastle: "We might just slip under the radar, you never know where we might end up.
"There's the top teams in the league like Luton, Fleetwood, York, but that could be too much pressure for them."
Odubade, 26, knows what it takes to to gain promotion to the Football League having been Stevenage's top scorer when the club were promoted from the Conference in 2010.
He signed a one-year deal at the International Stadium in June following his release by Stevenage.
Odubade added that manager Ian Bogie's ambition was instrumental in his decision to sign for Gateshead.
"He put the club to me saying that they were very ambitious going forward and that they need to get in the play-offs," he said.
"The gaffer seemed really interested in me. He was basically on my case 24/7, I couldn't say no."
