Northampton Town have signed former Middlesbrough left-back Ashley Corker on a 12-month contract.
The 20-year-old was a product of the Teeside club's youth system and spent last season playing in the Northern Premier League.
"We have been looking for a left-back and he did very well for us at the trial days," said boss Gary Johnson.
"He has been winning the pre-season bleep tests and we have some very fit lads already at the club."
Corker comes in to fill the gap at left-back left by Marcus Hall and Liam Davis, who departed Sixfields in the summer.
"He is a big friend of John Johnson so that should help him settle in and Johnno speaks very highly of Ashley," Gary Johnson added.
"He has taken his opportunity well and it is clear he would already have had a successful career in the Football League had he not had some awful luck on trial at other clubs.
"He is very grateful for this chance we have offered him and he is very single-minded and determined to make the most of it.
"He is certainly good enough to be an asset at this level and hopefully he can progress higher with us."
