Neath sign Wrexham defender Kai Edwards

Neath have signed defender Kai Edwards on an undisclosed deal from Wrexham.

The 20-year-old was out of contract at the Blue Square Bet Premier side and had been offered a new deal.

But the Wales semi-professional international has opted to join Neath in the Welsh Premiership in search of regular first-team football.

Edwards is expected to make his Neath debut on Saturday in the pre-season friendly against Premier League newcomers Swansea City.

"I wanted the opportunity to play regular football to develop my skills on the field," said the Wales Under-19 cap, who played on loan with Neath's rivals Prestatyn Town last season.

"There is no substitute for game-time experience and I'm excited to help Neath achieve their goals next season. It's an ambitious club with a very impressive professional set-up and I'm eager to be part of their plans."
